This morning we embark on a thrilling journey southward towards the awe-inspiring Dead Sea. As we draw nearer to the shores, the landscape gradually transforms, and we descend to an astonishing 1305 feet (398 meters) below sea level, the lowest point on Earth. Our first destination is Qumran, the historic site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were fortuitously discovered by a young shepherd boy, a momentous archaeological find.

Next, we venture to the legendary plateau of Masada, ascending by cable car to the very place where the Jewish Zealots bravely withstood the might of the Roman forces during a three-year siege. Their defiance of Roman slavery and torture ended tragically, choosing to embrace their freedom by their own hands. The view from the mountaintop is awe-inspiring, resonating with the spirit of those who fought valiantly for their beliefs.

Our first stop is the renowned site of Caesarea, once the capital of Judea, built by Herod. Steeped in biblical significance, Caesarea is where various Christian scriptures have unfolded; from Paul’s embarkation on his journey to Tarsus, to the dwelling of Cornelius and his family, the first Gentile believers. Witness the magnificently restored Roman amphitheater, which still resonates with acoustic and theatrical allure, hosting performances just as it did throughout history. Explore the excavated fortress and marvel at the remnants of the aqueduct, once a vital water supply system for the city.

Next, we venture to Megiddo, one of King Solomon’s fortified cities with layers of civilization preserved throughout history. As we stand on this historic ground, the words from the Books of Daniel and Revelation come alive, envisioning the final Battle of Armageddon while gazing at the vast Plains of Jezreel.

Indulge in the rich culture and cuisine of the region with a visit to the Druze Village of Daliat-el-Carmel, situated on the outskirts of Mount Carmel. Savor a late lunch at a local restaurant, immersing ourselves in the authentic flavors of the area.

Continuing our adventure, we ascend Mount Carmel for a breathtaking panoramic view of Haifa Bay and the Botanical Gardens below, a place where Elijah confronted the 400 false prophets of Baal in biblical tales.

As the afternoon turns to evening, we traverse the serene hills of the Galilee, arriving at our tranquil kibbutz guest house for check-in. A sumptuous dinner awaits us, promising an evening of relaxation and reflection in the serene beauty of the Galilee.

With hearts and minds enriched by the day’s experiences, we retire for a peaceful overnight stay, eagerly anticipating the wonders that await us in the Upper Galilee.

Day 7

Start the day with a breakfast at the hotel, as we prepare to embark on an enriching journey to two remarkable destinations. First on our itinerary is the mystical city of Safed (Tzfat), hailed as one of the Four Holy cities according to tradition and renowned as the birthplace of Kabbalah. Situated at an elevation of 900 meters (2,953 ft), Safed stands as the highest city in both the Galilee and Israel, boasting warm summers and occasionally snowy winters. Wandering through its narrow winding alleys, we’ll visit the Joseph Caro and the Ari synagogues, pivotal sites in the city. Immerse ourselves in the thriving artist’s quarter, where creative workshops and galleries add a vibrant touch to this spiritual haven.

Continuing our adventure, we venture to the Golan Heights, where a captivating array of experiences awaits. We’ll explore the former Syrian bunkers and the ruins of the Syrian city of Kuneitra, witnessing the complex history of this strategic region. Embrace the rich flavors of the area at the Golan Heights Winery, where a tour and wine tasting await us. To further deepen our understanding, we’ll delve into the captivating history of the region through Golan Magic, a captivating multimedia presentation. As the afternoon descends, we’ll return to the comforts of our hotel, where a relaxing dinner awaits.

Visit the Grotto of the Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph, both situated atop the traditional site where Mary and Joseph once lived. Nearby, we’ll marvel at the ancient City Well, believed to be the very spot where the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, heralding a momentous message.

Next, we venture to Capernaum, the heart of Jesus’ Galilean ministry, where His miracles were witnessed and recorded in biblical accounts. Stand in awe of the remains of the 2nd-century synagogue, also known as the octagonal Church of St. Peter, a place resonating with the profound teachings and healing powers of Jesus.

Our pilgrimage continues to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the iconic “Sermon on the Mount,” echoing timeless wisdom and profound blessings that continue to inspire.

As we journey further, we’ll explore the newly excavated site of Beit Shean, one of the most extensive archaeological digs in Israel. Witness the grandeur of the amphitheater, walk the colonnaded Roman streets, and marvel at the well-preserved mosaics and Roman bathhouses, transporting us back in time to the days of ancient civilizations.

We then proceed to Beit Alpha, where remnants of an ancient synagogue’s mosaic floor depict the zodiac, providing a glimpse into the ancient Jewish culture and beliefs. Driving through the picturesque Jordan Valley, we witness the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy as the desert blooms with flowers and vegetation.

As the day comes to a close, we journey to Tel Aviv for our overnight stay.
