Day 2

Don’t just visit Rome, experience it on our Ancient Rome tour.

Stand below the arena floor as you look up at the world’s most famous amphitheatre surrounding you. Envision the events that took place on the arena floor, where gladiators once fought to the death in pursuit of freedom and glory.

We will enter Rome’s vast area of archaeological remains and we will visit Rome’s most famous landmark: the Colosseum. Also known as the Flavian amphitheatre, the Colosseum was the largest and most monumental Roman amphitheatre in the first century A.D. It was home to some of the most famous gladiator and animal fights.

From here the tour continues with a visit of the Roman Forum. Located in the valley between the Capitoline and the Palatine Hills, it was the centre of the commercial, religious, and political center of ancient Rome with all the monumental, ceremonial and social grandeur this area was built to convey.

No visit to Ancient Rome would be complete without going a little further back – to the very beginning. In fact, we’ll explore the Palatine Hill, the legendary site where the warring brothers Remus and Romulus fought over land, and where Romulus founded the settlement that would eventually become Rome. Hear how this legendary battle impacted the world you know today. We owe the Ancient Romans more than you’d believe.

Don’t leave Venice without doing an unforgettable gondola ride!

The gondola is certainly the most photographed craft in the world and its image has become, for millions of tourists, the main symbol of Venice. In a city like Venice, the water ways have always been the most used for transports.

The Gondola, for its characteristics of maneuverability and speed, has been, till the coming of the motorized means, the boat most suitable to the people transport. It was born as private means for people of a certain class, it was used both to move from a place to another of the city, and for the pleasure of moving on the water aboard a comfortable and silent boat. Nowadays  there are Gondolas destined to the visit of the city, to the night cool, to the serenades, to the famous “trip in a gondola” and there are gondole “da parada” used for the crossing of canals, for “ferry”, that is to say.

The first are used generally from tourists, and also from Venetians for the practical needs of going from one part to the other of the Grand Canal. Venice is best admired from the water and city provides lovely viewing especially at night with the moon light reflections glistening upon the water.

A romantic cruise along the canals, while musicians and singers perform popular Italian songs, which makes the atmosphere even more magical. You will be captured by the elegance and charm of this experience.
